Landscaping & Lawn Care in the Tri-State Area
Retaining walls, paver stone patios and walks, irrigation and excavation, plus design and installation, mowing and fertilization routes and mulching — and the dirt, mulch, gravel and stone delivered to your door.
Tri State Enterprise has worked on tri-state properties since 1990. The landscaping division covers everything outside the building line: laying out and installing new landscapes, building the retaining walls, paver patios, walks and irrigation that make a yard usable, and keeping established lawns mowed, fed and mulched through the season. Every job starts with a walk of the property, because grade, drainage, soil and access decide how a wall, a patio or a bed has to be built. Because the same crews run excavation, grading and drainage correction, we can fix the reason a yard floods or erodes instead of replanting over it every year, and a wall or patio sits on ground we prepared ourselves. We also sell and deliver the material itself — mulch, topsoil, gravel and stone — to homeowners and contractors across Ashland, Huntington, Portsmouth, Ironton and the surrounding tri-state communities.
What we do
Landscaping services

Landscaping
Plans drawn for the property you actually have — beds, plantings, trees, edging and hardscape laid out around grade, drainage, sun and how you use the yard, then installed by our own crews.

Retaining Walls
Walls that hold back a slope, level a yard or frame a raised bed. We look at the grade, the soil and where the water goes first, and the base, drainage and backfill are part of the wall scope.

Lawn Mowing
Weekly or biweekly mowing for homes, rental properties, offices and commercial lots, cut to a consistent height and cleaned up before the crew leaves.
Explore lawn mowing
Lawn Fertilization
Seasonal fertilization and turf treatment scheduled around the growing season in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio, with weed and thin-turf areas noted at each visit.

Paver Stone Patios & Walks
Patios, walks, steps and landings set on an excavated, compacted base with edging that holds the pavers in place, pitched so water runs away from the house.

Mulching Services
Beds edged, weeded and mulched to an even depth. We can deliver the material only, or deliver and spread it — say which when you request the estimate.

Irrigation
Irrigation for lawns, beds and new plantings, planned with the grade so water reaches the plants instead of pooling against the house.

Dirt / Mulch
Materials supply and delivery — mulch and topsoil by the cubic yard, gravel, stone and sand by the scoop, dropped where you need it. See the materials section below.

Excavation
Digging for a wall or patio base, cutting in new beds, and regrading ground that holds water. The full site work and excavation scope is on the general contracting page.

Mulch, topsoil, gravel & stone — delivered
You do not have to hire a crew to buy material from us. Order mulch, topsoil or fill dirt by the cubic yard, and gravel, crushed stone, river rock or masonry sand by the scoop, and we will bring it to the driveway, the bed line or the job site. A scoop is one bucket from our loader: three scoops come to roughly 2½ tons and five to roughly 4½. Homeowners doing their own beds, builders staging a lot and contractors who need base material all order the same way.
Mulch
Delivered by the cubic yard for beds, trees and playground areas. Delivery only, or delivered and spread by our crew.
Topsoil & dirt
Screened topsoil and fill dirt by the cubic yard for new beds, lawn repair, low spots, grading and backfill.
Gravel
Driveway gravel and crushed stone by the scoop for driveways, parking areas, drainage trenches and job-site access.
Decorative stone
River rock and decorative stone by the scoop for beds, drip lines, dry creek beds and drainage swales. Masonry sand is sold the same way.
How to order material
- 1. Tell us the material and the amountMulch and topsoil by the cubic yard; gravel, stone and sand by the scoop. Not sure how much? Give us the bed or driveway dimensions and we will work it out.
- 2. Tell us where it goesDriveway, side yard, bed line or job site. Note anything the driver needs to know — gates, low limbs, soft ground, septic lines or a spot you would rather we avoid.
- 3. We schedule the deliveryThe office confirms the delivery day during business hours, Mon–Fri 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Add spreading or installation to the same order if you want the crew to place it.
Material availability and delivery scheduling are confirmed by the office when you call or request an estimate.

How landscaping work runs
We look at the property first
Grade, drainage, soil, sun and access decide what will actually live and what equipment can reach the work area. That walk-through comes before the scope is written.
One-time work or a standing route
A retaining wall, a patio, an irrigation install or a new bed is scheduled as a single job. Mowing and fertilization run as a maintenance route with a set visit frequency.
Excavation to finish, one company
The excavation, grading and base stone, the wall or patio itself, and the mulch and topsoil that finish it come from one company, so the dirt work, the material and the build stay on one schedule instead of waiting on an outside supplier.
Weather moves outdoor work
Heavy rain and saturated ground put grading, excavation and hardscape on hold. When a visit moves, the office tells you the new date rather than leaving it open.
Where we work
Landscaping crews work out of Ashland, Kentucky and cover the tri-state area — Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio.
